Trampoline Safety: Sensible Rules for Families
General advice. For anything specific to your trampoline, follow BERG's manual for your model.
These are the rules most families settle on for a garden trampoline. They are common sense rather than BERG's instructions. The manual that comes with your model sets out how it should be used, and that is the one to follow.
Six rules worth agreeing before the first bounce
One jumper at a time
Take turns. Most garden trampoline rules come back to this one.
An adult watching young children
Young children should have an adult supervising while they jump, close enough to step in.
No somersaults without coaching
Flips and somersaults belong in a club with a coach, not in the garden.
Keep the area clear
Nothing around the trampoline that a child could land on, and nothing stored underneath it.
Not when it is wet or windy
A wet mat is slippery. Wait until it dries, and stay off in high wind.
Check it regularly
Look over the net, mat, springs and padding. If something is worn or damaged, keep the children off until it is replaced.
Nets
Above-ground BERG trampolines are all sold with a safety net. InGround and FlatGround models are sold with or without one, so it is a choice you make when ordering. If you are unsure, tell us who will use the trampoline and what surrounds it in the garden consultation and we will talk it through.
Where it goes
Choose a spot with clear space around it and nothing overhanging. BERG's manual gives the free space your model needs. A FlatGround sits level with the lawn, so there is no step up and no ladder; an InGround has a low raised edge.
Keeping it in good order
A trampoline in good repair is part of using it safely. Our maintenance guide covers what to check, and we keep genuine BERG replacement parts in stock.
Questions
Do all BERG trampolines come with a safety net?
No. Above-ground BERG trampolines are all sold with a safety net. InGround and FlatGround models are sold with or without one.
How many children can use a trampoline at once?
One at a time is the general rule for a garden trampoline. Follow BERG's manual for your model.
Is a trampoline at ground level easier for small children to get on?
A FlatGround sits level with the lawn, so there is no step up and no ladder. Young children still need an adult supervising.
Where do I get replacement parts?
From us. We keep genuine BERG replacement parts in stock.
Not sure which trampoline suits your garden?
Send us a couple of photos and rough measurements. We will recommend a size and shape and give you a delivered price. It is free and there is no obligation.
